When will it ever end??!!

Thursday, 9/25/08
------------------------

Today I had my first up-close taste of what stupid really looks like. I needed to find gas for the Suburban. I'd already delayed fueling up a day because of all the idiocy in this area; and could no longer wait, because I was below 1/4 and have to drive for my daughter's field trip tomorrow. So off to find gas I went.

I managed to find one place on the way to the kids' school that had 93 octane only. Didn't help much that they were limiting people to $15.00 transactions; as it was, I got just over $17 out of it before it shut off on me. How much gas did that get me? A whopping 3.9 gallons. That MIGHT be enough to get my kids to school in the morning; it was nowhere near enough to get me through the day, with the field trip planned.

So, after getting the kids from school, we set off to find a station that actually had gas. Ten minutes later, we found a place that had about a dozen cars waiting to fill up. Didn't seem too bad, so we got in line (after going down the side street and turning around, so we wouldn't block the main road) and settled in to wait. The station had two islands; and only one pump per island, so it actually took twice as long as we'd originally thought to get our turn. One side would pump; then the other; and back and forth. What a pain. All in all, it took an HOUR for us to get our turn, but at least it was worth it. They had a $40 transaction limit, much better than the last place.

But is all this craziness really necessary? People watch the news for information; the news and other media outlets make a big deal out of situations such as this; and as a result, they feed the paranoia and CAUSE the mad rush to get gas. It's absurd, really. If people would just keep to their regular routines, none of this fuel frenzy would have had to occur, and those of us who actually THINK before freaking out would be able to get gas when we really NEED it. I didn't feed into all this paranoia; but because of it, I am paying the price. The Suburban takes about 10 days to go through a tank of gas; I have no reason or desire to fuel up every friggin' day just because the MEDIA thinks we MIGHT have a low supply for a while. The boneheads who are buying into all this media hyperbole, who are rushing off with every vehicle and gas can they own, who are selfishly HOARDING fuel for their own purposes - they don't realize or care that they are hurting the economy and the rest of us. People really need to calm down and use that brain that God gave them.

Paranoid, irresponsible IDIOTS

Wednesday, 9/24/08
------------------------

Okay, I have kept quiet and tried my best to ignore this, but I am sorry, it just HAS to be said. You people are STUPID, IGNORANT, PARANOID FOOLS. Do you not realize that Hurricane Ike passed through Texas over a WEEK ago, and you are STILL racing to the pumps to fill up all your tanks before gas runs out?? Do you not REALIZE that gas keeps running out BECAUSE of you idiots?? For crissake, stay the hell home if you're that paranoid!! Leave some gas for those of us who have half a brain and know that we will NOT run out of fuel any time soon!!

Okay, so one whole pipeline is damaged. Big frickin' deal. So that pipeline services the Southeast. Whoopee shit. You DO realize that they can truck it in from other locations, right?? It might take a little longer, so why not try to change your driving habits a little bit for a week to accommodate the minor delay. Du-uh.

Okay, so a couple of drilling rigs in the Gulf sustained minor damage. Again, big frickin' deal. So many of the rigs are not back up to full capacity yet. Again, whoopee shit. Maybe the oil companies are taking advantage of the forced shutdowns to do NEEDED maintenance on the rigs BEFORE they restore them to full capacity, so they DON'T go down at a more crucial time and cause MORE problems for us. Du-uh.

Geez people, get a freakin' GRIP. The reason our gas stations keep running out of fuel is NOT supply shortage, it's YOU. Grow the hell up already.

A quiet day - for once

-------------------------

For the first time in a long time, I saw nothing excessively stupid while out and about today. How amazing is THAT??!! LOL

Although my Cubs did blow an easy win. While they were there physically, mentally they've already taken the trip to the playoffs. They were completely uncoordinated and uninspired. If they want to achieve 100 wins this season, they need to win until the end - NO MORE SCREWUPS!!!

Rules of the Road apply to EVERYBODY!!!

Monday, 9/22/08
-----------------------

OMG do people pass their driving test then toss the Rules of the Road out the window on their way home??!! Today we left to take the kids to school, and almost every single stoplight on the way there was DOA; not even flashing, out completely. Does NOBODY realize that when a stoplight is out, it AUTOMATICALLY is to be treated as a four-way stop??!! I cannot tell you how many times we nearly got CREAMED by some idiot who thought, "Oh gee, the guy in front of me went, I think I'll try and sneak through too."

We got a bit angry after about four blocks of this; so at the next stoplight (which was also out, BTW), the people on the cross-street went and I decided to go. Naturally, some idiot woman in a Toyota P.O.S. decided to try and sneak through behind the other people, and came VERY close to t-boning my BRAND NEW Suburban. I slammed on the brakes in front of her and we just STARED her down, and made her sit there a good ten seconds before I VERY slowly proceeded (to give her a few extra seconds to think about the error of her ways). She was COMPLETELY clueless, makes Britny Spears look like a candidate for a Nobel Peace Prize. LOL

I'm thinking I should write a letter to our local paper, not that it would do any good. At least I would be able to vent, get it off my chest.....and hopefully get my point across to a FEW people. I swear, I thought Chicago was bad, but at least up there they KNEW the Rules of the Road and even followed them most of the time.

If you can't handle your dogs, don't have them in the first place!!!

Sunday, 9/21/08

------------------

My MIL lives a couple blocks away from us; well, if we walk to the end of our block, cross both streets (a t-intersection), pass the clubhouse, and cross the bridge, her house is right there. Her next door neighbor is, to put it mildly, a bunch of irresponsible idiots. They are nice, don't get me wrong.....but they are completely CLUELESS when it comes to being a responsible pet owner. They have a Pomeranian and a Min-Pin that they leave out all friggin' day on a tie-out, and at least twice a week the dogs either break free or are not tied in the first place (well clipped, it's one of those leash-type clips). Usually they stay within a few houses of their own then return home; but the past few times they have strayed a bit farther.

About a week and a half ago, those dang dogs showed up in my backyard, and drove Dakota nuts. Becca and I went out there and chased them all the way back to the clubhouse, where the Pom finally came to me and let me pick him up. The Min-Pin wanted nothing to do with us; but followed when we carried the Pom home. I hooked the Pom back up to his lead (nobody was home, gee BIG surprise there) and spent the next 45 minutes getting the Min-Pin to trust me enough to get him hooked back up. This was after he made several futile attempts to take off my daughter's face with his teeth. My MIL told me the next day that the owners didn't get home until several hours later - and this was just before dinnertime when we corralled the mutts.

Today, I come downstairs to find my new dog trying to get through the screen door - at the same two stupid little rat-dogs. They took off for home while we calmed the dog down; and I called my MIL to go next door and alert the neighbors. She called me back a few minutes later to tell me that she rang the bell and a partially-dressed woman answered, wrapped in a quilt (mind you, this was around NOON). She told her that one of her dogs had just gone into the backyard and that she hadn't seen the other (the Min-Pin, of course). The woman's reply? She told my MIL, "Okay, well we will get out there when we can, in a little while, to take care of them." WTH is that?? In a little while? When you can? OMG. If it were me, I would drop whatever it was that I was doing to make sure my dogs didn't get free again!!

Personally I am no longer going to try and protect these stupid, furry-rats-that-bark, from the dangers they face when running free. If they manage to escape the many large dogs that live around here, and don't get squished by a passing vehicle, the next time I see them I will grab either one or both (if the nasty little Min-Pin lets me, that is) and call Animal Control to come get them. I am four months pregnant, and I have taken the time to train my animals to obey me; not only that, I don't leave mine out there 99% of the time, and I play with them.....I am not about to run my butt all over the subdivision trying to catch THEIR dogs. Animal Control can deal wit hthem now.

OMG They Did It!!

Saturday, 9/20/08
-------------------

It is now official, the Chicago Cubs are the NL Central Division Champions!! It was a bit scary for a while there; they had been winning 5-0 but gave up 4 runs mid-game; but they held on, and Kerry Wood shut the Cards down in the ninth for the win! I bet the fans up in Chicago are STILL in the streets celebrating, I only wish I could be there with them!!

I have no material for the DDOS tonight. I didn't see anything extra-idiotic today while out and about. I will say that I am upset about all the posts on Craigs List from people who just "have" to re-home their so-called "beloved" pets, for whatever reason. Here's a couple of good ones:

"Need to find a great INDOOR home for 2 Guinea Pigs. Come with cage, water bottle, food dish, extra food and bedding. All for FREE. Just want to find them a good home where they can get more attention. Email if you have any questions. Thank you. " TRANSLATION: I recently discovered that I have a social life and no longer want to handle my responsibilities to my pets.

"I have a 4 year old pure bred yellow lab female who needs to find a home, she is spayed and utd on shots. She was trained by the number one dog trainer in Idaho and Canada, she ran field trial for a short while. She is a ball of energy and needs more attention then what she is getting, she is crate and house trained. Loves to swim in the water. Shes great with kids, and all sizes of other dogs, horses, cows, and goats. She is a very sweet and loving dog. The rehoming fee is $100.00 and if your interested please email or call xxx-xxx-xxxx and my name is Ashley." TRANSLATION: We are just too lazy to properly care for a dog that loves us so very much.

"I have 4 Guinea Pigs I am Needing to Rehome. There are 3 Females, and 1 Soild White Male with Red eyes. 2 of the Females may be Breeded. They Needed to go All Togther. I have a Small Cage, 3 Water Bottles, Vim-c for there Water, 3 ioglos house, Hay, and also whatever Food I have left. They are in a Cage and get alone very well with each other. I am asking $75.00!!! Please e-mail with Any Questions u may have are Call xxx-xxx-xxxx Thanks so Much for Viewing my Ad!!!" TRANSLATION: I'm a kid as you can see from my poor grammar and spelling; and since I was too stupid to separate the boy from the girls, my parents are making me get rid of them before the girls all have the babies that they are most likely already pregnant with."

Needless to say, we need more RESPONSIBLE pet owners who are INTELLIGENT enough to do the research on the animals BEFORE bringing them home and deciding that they are not going to work out. I've even seen people re-homing pets because they do not match the new furniture....talk about a lame excuse!!

The Closer They Get....

Friday, September 19, 2008
-----------------------------

Why is it that the closer the Cubs get to winning their division, the worse they play?? I mean, come on already. Zambrano's last start, he went out there and threw the team's FIRST no-hitter in over THIRTY years. Today, he hits the mound, and promptly gives up five runs - in the FIRST inning. They lost 12-6. So their magic number of two did not drop, thanks to their lack of playoff-caliber defense. At least they scored some runs. Even better, the second-place Brewers lost their game versus the Reds; so the Cubs' magic number is now ONE, thank you very much. Hopefully tomorrow they can actually WIN and just get it over with, so they can relax for the remainder of the season and concentrate on the first round of playoffs.

But that's the "Lovable Losers" for ya. It's inevitable that they will win the division; they have several games left and I can't see even THEM losing all of them (or the Brewers winning ALL of the games they have left). Whether or not they are a true World-Series-caliber team remains to be seen. I reserve judgment until after the playoffs begin.

On a side note, my first baby Rebecca turned 12 today. One more year until she's (***gasp***) a TEENAGER. Now THAT should be an experience to remember. LOL Happy birthday baby girl!!

Does DH stand for Dear Husband or Dumb Husband??

Thursday, September 18, 2008
--------------------------------

I have no incidents to report today; so I'm going to relate a quick story that I found quite funny.

Back in June, the Cubs were playing the White Sox in a three-game series (for those who aren't sports fans, I'm talking Major League Baseball here). My husband was sitting on the couch, and I had happened to look up the game score online. He said, "Who are they playing?" I replied, "The White Sox." He thinks for a minute then adds, "Are they playing in Chicago?"

BOTH teams are Chicago-based teams. LMAO

Burger King in Gastonia NC - WARNING

Wednesday, 9/17/08
----------------------

We have a Burger King on Union Road in Gastonia NC. It used to be good - until today. Avoid this location at all possible costs!! Jim and I went there to get food for dinner; when we received it, I noticed that my Whopper Junior was cold and mentioned it to the manager. What does she do, does she make me a new one? Heck no!! She NUKED the friggin' thing!! Okay, fine - go with it to avoid issues.

We get home, start pulling the food out. Becca's chicken sandwich seemed hot; she opened it and it was overcooked. Ewwww, strike one. Jim's steakhouse burger thing was also overcooked, and the edges felt like it had come out of the refrigerator. It also smelled nasty (but that could have been the steakhouse gunk they put on it). Strike two. I then proceeded to check my onion rings and the kids' chicken fingers; all were dry, overcooked and ICE COLD. Strike three.

I was ready to go back right then; but Jim happened to notice something that REALLY topped it off for me. He handed me Ashley's apple fries and told me to look at the date. SEPTEMBER FOURTH. I can see a day or two out of code, but almost two WEEKS??!! HELL NO!! You do NOT mess with my kids' health by trying to pawn that expired crap on us!! We went back there; I stormed in, dropped the bags on the counter and basically went pregnant-hormone-postal on her arse. Feeling tears come on, I threw up my hands after my 30 second tirade and stormed outside, where I let out a good AAAAARRRRRGGGGGHHHHH. On my way out, I noticed a younger couple sitting there eating, and they kept looking at their food, chewing slower and slower, as if they weren't sure if they should finish it. LMAO I just looked at them and said, "Dont' come back, TRUST me." I felt bad for causing a scene; but at the same time, like I said, you do NOT mess around with me, when it comes to my kids' health all bets are off.

Do yourselves a favor; do NOT eat at this location, for your own health and safety. I will be contacting the Health Department tomorrow about this incident. I no longer have the receipt; but I'm sure they will still be happy to take my report. Yuck.

Idiot Drivers - they are EVERYWHERE

Tuesday, 9/16/08
-------------------

Welcome to my new blog! Over the past few weeks, I started joking with my husband about the stupid things I'd see throughout my day, and he would chime in with the dumb things he would see. We coined it our "daily dose of stupid." After some of the posts on a local mommy board where I'm a member, I decided to try and start a blog all about it!!

Today's entry is a typical one around here. It involves the dumbass in the Cadillac Catera leaving Gaston Mall around 5 pm. He was in the left turn lane (to go towards the I85 ramps) and I was behind a car, in the right turn lane. Without warning, he throws on his right turn signal; when the light changed, the woman in front of me just stood there, blocking me AND him. I honked the horn to prompt her to go; he tried to go in front of me but hehe, my vehicle is like TEN times the size of his Catera P.O.S., and I refused to let him. He fell in behind me, a bit ticked off. Owell, like I care. LOL

But wait folks, it gets better. The next light, for Franklin Blvd., consists of two left turn lanes, a straight lane, and a right turn lane. I got into the leftmost left turn lane because I needed to make a left into one of the strip malls on Franklin; he got into the left turn lane next to me and just sat there, STARING at me. My DH was cracking up, it was SO pathetic. Lucky for the other guy, he never once tried to yell out his window at me or get out of his own vehicle; if he had, he would have found himself at the WRONG end of a pregnant woman's temper. LOL

Hang on folks, it gets even better. And here you thought I was done. When we got the light, all lanes began to move; I began my left turn, watching him out of the corner of my eye to ensure he didn't try to cut me off or do something else stupid (he was batting a thousand so far). He didn't try anything with me; instead, he did something else completely boneheaded. Mind you, he was in the OTHER left turn lane..... the idiot WENT STRAIGHT, cutting off another vehicle without any warning whatsoever. We didn't see him again after that. It's times like that when I wish a cop was around to witness it, I love when stupid acts get their just desserts!!
